June 2009 As the founding partner of NFCA's Corporate Leadership Council, Intel is assisting the National Family Caregivers Association to improve its communications and information available to family caregivers nationwide. As part of this mission, Intel's Digital Health Group is sponsoring NFCA's Family Caregiver Forum to make it easier for family caregivers to directly communicate with each other to share tips and resources.
Intel's Digital Health Group is committed to designing research-based innovative technologies and solutions to help transform healthcare, improve chronic disease management, and enhance wellness and independence while enabling secure and timely exchange of healthcare information. For more than a decade, Intel has been working on a global level to ensure that digital health information is shared securely across the healthcare ecosystem to enable better collaboration among hospitals and clinics, clinicians, patients, payors, and other members of the healthcare community.
Specifically, Intel's Digital Health Group is working on solutions to help:
- Improve clinical decision-making and quality of care
- Improve access to healthcare
- Increase patient safety
- Reduce costs by enhancing clinician workflow, productivity and operational efficiencies
One of the current products that is making this communication possible is the Intel® Health Guide, a comprehensive personal health system combining an in-home patient device with an online interface to allow clinicians to monitor patients in their homes and manage care remotely. The Health Guide includes vital sign collection, patient reminders and communications tools such as video conferencing and alerts. By helping individuals, families, and the extended healthcare community connect to the right information at the right time, Intel can help empower family caregivers to make better, more informed decisions.
