Sometimes the best advice and support comes from other family caregivers. Go to our Family Caregiver Forum for answers to your questions and to help others benefit from your experience. Here are some examples of topics connected to issues of depression.

    - It is hard to describe depression to people who haven't themselves been depressed, just as it is hard to describe what caregiving is really like. So how have you made others understand what you are going through?

    - Since it takes so long for the meds to kick in - what do you do to get through the interim period?

    - What do you do to get rid of the dry mouth that sometimes comes as a side effect of medication?

    - The last time I was depressed my husband was much more independent than he is now. Does anyone have a plan in place on how to make sure their loved one is taken care of if they are in a deep depression and can't really function?
